Zepbound is primarily used in the management of blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. In addition, it provides the benefit of promoting weight loss. Its mechanism of action involves increasing insulin secretion and slowing down food movement in the stomach.

Zepbound is a medication that helps adults with type 2 diabetes manage blood sugar and achieve weight loss. It is an injectable treatment taken once a week, containing a combination of two hormones known as GLP-1 and GIP. The generic name for Zepbound is Tirzepatide, and it may be sold under the brand name Mounjaro.

Dosage

The recommended starting dose for Zepbound is 5 mg per week, administered through subcutaneous injection (under the skin). Depending on the patient’s response, the dose may be increased to 10 mg per week after 4 weeks. The maximum recommended dose is 15 mg per week.

Side Effects

Like any medication, Zepbound carries potential side effects. Reported side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, constipation, abdominal pain, and injection site reactions.
