What is Alli?
Alli is a medication used for weight management. It contains the active ingredient orlistat, which helps prevent the absorption of fat from the food you eat. This can help you lose weight more easily.
It’s designed to be taken alongside a support programme, boosting the weight you lose from eating a balanced diet and exercising. For every 2kg you lose, Alli can help you lose 1kg more.
What are Orlos and Alli?
Orlos and Alli are the brand names of two medications with the same active ingredient, Orlistat 60mg. They’re both equally effective — the only difference is that Orlos is available at a lower price.
When should you use Alli?
If you’ve previously tried losing weight through diet and exercise without results, you may consider other treatments. Alli is clinically proven to help you lose 50% more weight than just dieting alone.
Alli is only suitable for people with a BMI over 28.

How does Alli work?
Alli contains the active ingredient orlistat, which attaches itself to some of the enzymes in your body that break down fat. This stops you from absorbing some of the fat from the food you eat.
The medication blocks around a quarter of the fat from the food you eat from being digested. Any fat that isn’t digested is passed from your body in your stools.
How to take Alli?
Alli should be taken three times a day at mealtimes — before, during or up to one hour after each meal. Capsules should be swallowed whole with water.
Do not take more than three Alli capsules per day. You can skip a dose if you’re eating a meal that doesn’t contain fat, or if you miss a meal.
Alli can interfere with the absorption of vitamins into your body, so you should take a multivitamin supplement daily at night to ensure you’re getting enough of vitamins A, D, E and K.
